Georgia Congressman Co-Sponsors Bill Taxing Illegal Aliens To Pay For Wall

The House Resolution, which was introduced March 30th, would impose a two percent tax on remittances sent abroad. Titled the “Border Wall Funding Act of 2017, HR 1813 would apply exclusively to remittances and wire transfers sent from residents in the United States to recipients in over 40 Latin American countries.

Among the eight congressman co-sponsoring the bill is Georgia’s own Austin Scott (GA-8). Zpolitics reported that when asked about his support for the resolution, a spokeswoman for Rep. Scott stated he is “committed to strengthening our border security and enforcement and funding it without adding to the deficit.”
