Congressman John Lewis Wants Federal 'Observers' in GA Polling Places

(thehill.com) - Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) on Wednesday called on the Obama administration to install federal election observers in states that have imposed voting restrictions.

“In certain states we should ask for federal protection, federal observers,” said Lewis at a roundtable event on voting rights in Washington.

Lewis and other Democrats have argued that GOP-controlled state legislatures have been able to impose voting restrictions on minorities and low-income people.

“It is a shame and a disgrace that Congress has not taken action to fix what the Supreme Court broke,” Lewis said.
